DITA 1.2 documents added to our content-rich sites

We have added the DITA 1.2 Architectural Specification and the DITA 1.2 Language Reference to the structured topic collections on our content-rich websites (DITAinfo.info and XMLdocs.info).

You can browse both documents, and query the Language Reference by tag (the Architectural Specification does not contain metadata tags).

Ant parameter topic updated in DITAinformationcenter

One of our DITAinformationcenter readers pointed out an error in the Ant parameter topic. We have updated the topic and clarified the description of the two parameters, args.fo.output.rel.links and args.fo.include.rellinks.

For more information about Ant parameters, see the DITA Open Toolkit page of sourceforge.net.

Edition 8 of DITAinformationcenter published

Today we published the eighth edition (E8) of the DITAinformationcenter structured information collection. E8 was tested and published with release 1.5.2 or 1.5.3 of DITA Open Toolkit, which supports the DITA 1.2 language standard.

Using statistics to improve the usefulness of our sites

One nice thing about publishing documentation on a Drupal or WordPress site is that it is easy to instrument the site to find out which which topics are being read and searched for by the users. Here is what we have seen in the last few month's activity on our content-rich model sites.

We have seen daily search requests from people looking for samples and examples. Both the garage and grocery shopping topics are popular.

People are interested in the basics of getting started with DITA. The various planning, tutorial, and "how-to" topics are also popular.
